The Netherlands was without a government last night after the ruling coalition split over the behaviour of its immigration minister towards a prominent Somali-born Dutch MP.
Dutch Immigration Minister, Ms Verdonk had waged a high profile campaign to strip Ayaan Hirsi Ali of Dutch citizenship for falsifying details about her name, age and refugee status in an asylum application upon arrival in the Netherlands in 1992. She later restored her Dutch citizenship.
Ayaan Hirsi also "lied" about being forced to marry by her family, a claim which all their families and muslims disagreed with.They say "it was a plot meant to confuse the dutch society to "gain citizenship".

Once a devout Muslim, Ms Ali, 36, rose to international prominence after writing a film script for the director Theo van Gogh in 2004, criticising the treatment of women under Islam. Mr Van Gogh was murdered later that year by a fanatical Islamist and Ms Ali has since been threatened with 'execution' by Islamist extremists.
