Keep your child away from me -- what can I be?

Just made this up, not sure if it's too obvious or too hard:



Some say I require sunlight
I can climb, it would appear.
I've nice colours, though theyre not bright
I will return every year.

Others know that light destroys me,
So I'd best keep low, I'd say.
And there is no colour to see
And I visit once a day!

All agree I'm dangerous, though.
Keep your child away from me!
Most say I'm beautiful, you know.
Theres the facts. what can I be?
