You know steve, he might actually have a point there.....I started this tread a little while ago

Leviticus al la carte

I was wondering specifically about the pick and choose method of some peoples beliefs, and it seemed to keep coming back to Paul.

I haven't read dalahow2's link yet, but I will.

I'm one lazy son of a gun, and I didn't make good on my idea of studying up a little on Paulie, but it's a lazy Saturday afternoon, maybe I will know.

From where I'm standing right now though, it seems this guy had way more interpretive power allowed to him than he should have.

There kinda-sorta is some truth to the notion dalahow2 forwards, but strictly speaking, credit to where credit is due; the Pauline Tradition was endorsed and institutionalized by Constantine - who, if anyone merits the name "Inventor of Christianity", gets the prize. From the chaos and dissention that marked the nascent faith's first centuries, Constantine forged the entity which became what today is known as Christianity.

I especially find interesting the referance to Matthew 25:31-26....I think I'll stick to those first person words, rather than listening to someone else explain them to me.

For general all-around applicability, its hard to beat Mat 7:16 - give little weight to what they say, no matter who "they" may be, no matter what they may say ... observe what they do and have done, consider it, then form your assessments accordingly.
