@ossobuco,
Is this a frog in the island of puerto rico, island of enchantment? (If so, I can't find that frog..)

Sure it is a clue, Ros, as you are now accostumated to my cryptic clues.

Who needed to see or touch in order to believe?

Well, even though in another language, this island's name is derived from that person/caracter..

I think we're looking for an island which is associated with the idea, "You wouldn't believe it if you haven't seen it."

Do you know of any literary or movie references to an island that fits that bill?

the literary reference was St. Thomas.... had to see and touch to believe Christ wounds... island was therefore something to do with Thomas... and not that side of the atlantic... so... looked down towards Africa and a BIG google map of the world and an island to do with St. Thomas, in a different language...(Spanish) which was off Equatorial Guinea - little island called Sao Tome.

was easy then... hahahhahaaaaaahhhhaha - how long winded was that a?
talk about making us work for it! Good one tho!

Wow, nice sleuthing. I never would have connected the St. Thomas reference (not being aware of his history). I thought about going to a map of the world and looking for islands, but the thought of covering the south pacific stopped me from that tack.
