The first orangutan born at Busch Gardens in Tampa has a problem. Her mom was raised in captivity, and never developed the mothering skills needed to mother her offspring properly. So the zookeepers have become surrogate mothers:
This is very important, as there are so few orangs in the wild. It is necessary to learn how to help baby orangs learn mothering skills, so that they may continue their breed!

s a side note, the childrens book fascinated me as a child..how could a bird think a bulldozer was its mommy? Stuff Happens
