"Please ensure both the install/ and contrib/ directories are deleted"

and I am having a hard time going from posting to search and I get this message-

You cannot make another search so soon after your last; please try again in a short while.

Over the course of the night the server was being patched for vulnerabilities. They had been pretty serious and the server was under nightly attack (some email functions are limited as well, and will remain so until the hacking is brought under control.

That particular message will pretty much alway mean I am working on the forum software.

One of the items changed was a phpbb thing, and that's flood control of the search feature. You have to wait 15 seconds or so to do another search. This helps stem automated Denial of Service attacks (when a server or a group of servers floods a server with traffic in order to render it useless to legitimate users) through the search feature.

The threshold may be too strict (maybe 10 seconds instead of 15?) but it's ultimately a good thing. A2K is attacked all the time, and once a site gains a certain level of visibility measures to curb malicious use of the website need to be taken.

I've turned the threshold down to 5 seconds, should be much less noticable.

i only noticed it once this morning, so if you had it at 15 seconds, that did not get in the way of flipping through the forum at all..

They weren't lost really, but during the upgrades the session table had to be dumped so the new topic markers are reset.

You can still get to all of those threads/posts in the same order with the "at a glance" search, it's just not as nice (and familiar) as the "new posts" search.
