hmm weird! Guys as far as i see none of Europeans do not understand about POLITICS. you guys have own reasons that are reasonable in sense of not lose of any political rights in European Union Council. There are rights about Turkey and misunderstandings about Turkey that none of Europeans dont know about it. Yes Turkey have 70 million population that is huge in comparison with other European countries. But the main issue behind on that is relation of population and European union council representators. If Turkey enters EU Turkey will have the biggest vote right in council that will diminish all of sovereignty of French and Germans in council. THATS signifcant issue that Europeans are afraid of it. On the other hand, Turkey has %90 muslim population that most of Europeans are afraid of it. Since,in most of places in Europe, there is religious discrimination that is against freedom of faith. So, its a big question that IS EU Christian community or universal community. Without Turkey, Eu will be small in terms of economy and military terms. Since, Uprising of China and superpower USA will squash Eu in between of them. That may be interrupted with Turkey's Eu accession that will make EU more powerful in terms of Political sovereignty (Turkey is close to Middle East that may increase Eu's interventioın over Middle East Problems) Military terms (Turkey has biggest ground army in Europe), Economy terms, (Turkey is one of the 14th biggest economy in world and %60 of population is young that will trigger EU's economy in positive sense). Anyway except all of this, Turkey is completely important for EU that they even dont let Turkey to deny EU candidate membership in 2005. Tony Blair and Schröder persuaded Turkish Prime minister not to leave EU candidate membership. Since that may cause negative effects over EU. Anyway, First European People have to change their minds in terms of FREEDOM OF FAITH and count muslims as PEOPLE then Consider about Positive effects of Turkey's EU accession and Clear their biases against Turkey without any real proof.

@Berker,
There are quite a few differences between the Council of the European Union, the European Parliament and the Council of Europe.

But that wont be of interest to one-time-posters.

@Walter Hinteler,
Yea i mean in Council of European Union exactly but there is great importance about that. Since, if Turkey joins EU, Turkey will have %20 vote right in Union that is exactly makes Turkey as a Great power in vote capacity in council. Thats why French and German politicians are afraid of this kind issue in Turkey's Eu accession !!

@Berker,
Well, with 20% "vote right", Turkey would get the largest national votes, true.

But although you claimed that we Europeans don't understand politics - I doubt that Turkey would get more more than e.g. Germany, the UK and Austria together.
