I've read lots of L. Ron Hubbard and nothing happened to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me

What sort of a name is L Ron anyway?

Sounds like....the Crooked E and we all know how that ended up.

Forry is a personal friend and I was a guest at the old Ackermansion many times. Visited the new Ackermansion several times over the years and I really should contact Forry to make another trip. Kind of drifted away from sci-fi fandom when I moved to Laguna Beach in the 60's. One of my oldest and best friends still lived five minutes from the Ackermansion in the 70's and 80's so I visited there for weekends (I was actually doing the interiors of his house). I had embarked at one time building a replica of the one miniature set of Metropolis in one of Forry's rooms and the old Ackermansion but, alas, we ran out of funds.

One of my favorite theories is about cults and fundamentalist religious groups. I maintain that happy, successful, content with themselves people do not join these groups. The cults and fundamentalist religious groups target the unhappy, the addicted, the alcoholic, and various and sundry other people who have not been able to have stability in their lives. The group provides a superstructure and template for living that the person is unable to provide for himself.

Now...................saying that, my Sunday paper contained a Parade Magazine (not the most intellectual of periodicals, but) interview with Tom Cruise. I thought that you would find it enlightening, in terms of my "theories".

Cruise was also a member of AA -- I hate to out someone who is in the anonymous organization but he's particularly asked for it. He could have benefited from some psychotherapy in my opinion and maybe wouldn't have checked out of his career to make drinking his career. He's a pathetic whiner -- he's even whining about the joking and downright distain for his pet Scientology. At least the other stars who are now "clears," do not try to proselytize.

lightwizard, if you decide to go see Forry, maybe i can hitch a ride or give you a ride? Laguna Beach is on the way from San Diego to LA.

unless you buy the notion that there's no such thing as bad publicity, Cruise may be hurting Scientology as much as helping it. i'd like to think that the sofa jumping and the attack on Brooke Shields discredited Scientology more than promoted it.

I live both in Stanton at our estate owned townhouse and in Laguna up in Portofino Laguna (at the top of Nyes place), and work at Fashion Island.

Attacking Brook Shields was the act of advocacy and it was just plain a cheap shot bordering (well, maybe passing into) cowardice.

i never heard of Stanton, CA until today. Laguna Beach i sometimes drive through when i want something more scenic than 405, and might even tarry there a bit if i could ever find parking.

Laguna Beach is horrible parking, especially on weekends and even in the Winter months. We have a gallery there also (I work at the one in Fashion Island) and they are reliant on the visitor that rents in the hotels or motels for a week or the weekend who will get out and roam around. As I once lived there, I do know the ropes as far as where is the best place to find parking! Stanton is a small community just south of Knotts Berry Farm -- we are at the cusp the Cerritos, Cypress, Westminster and Buena Park. Los Alimitos Race Track is five minutes one way down Katella and Disneyland about twenty minutes down the other way.

I didn't immediately locate Forry's phone number so I E mailed him.

Lw, have you checked out the Cerritos library? i'm a library science student part-time and kept hearing about it, so i went there once. quite an amazing facility, especially the aquarium in the lobby. Smile

Hmm, no but have been to the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts. I've driven past that library -- I'll have to explore next time. Newport Beach also has a pretty good library and museum in Facist Island (er, Fashion Island -- there I go again!)
