Okay, so let's assume God is in-foulable (spell?).
Next, let's assume that the church/temple/igloo/magic school bus is not.
When a great error happens, or a stance is taken in error (like the church supporting slavery), who apologizes in the end and how long does it take?
I'm just wondering because I think about things like the Pope coming out on his balcony in 1992 and for the first time declaring that the world is round. As I recall, some people died because they thought the world being round wa a pretty groovy thought. The church thought different and declared such people heretics. Murder.
So what good does the Pope saying the world is round do long after the fact? How long will it be until the Robot Pope of the distant future comes out on the balcony and says:
"Homosexuality is not a choice, or disease."
or
"Jesus was black."
or
"We stole most of Christmas and Easter from the Pagans."
When and who?
The church is probably the worst thing to ever happen to Christianity.
One problem is humans don't understand God. What they don't understand they make up. So we have ended up with a lot of made up religions.
The really evil religions use God to control and dictate to people. They use God to gain power and wealth. They tell us that we have to believe the way they tell us or God will kill our soul, or torture us in the afterlife for eternity. They prey in the ignorant, the stupid and the insecure.
I just think that people ive way to much credit to their spiritual nature to religion. People accept what they are told beofre what they experiance, even if they are the same.
