Thanks, farmerman. Wish I coulda been there to see that too.

BTW, as nesting season draws to a close, I'm rating the birds. In parenting I'll give a 9.5 (nobody's perfect). Housekeeping I'm giving a -3. I confess that I get a little woozy when I look at the disgusting mess.

Roberta, the wind and the rain will eventually take care of the mess.

I remember reading an article written by a man who had been watching New Yorkers picking up their dog's poop and dropping it into plastic bags. He commented that one of the most biodegradable substances on earth was being preserved in plastic which would last for hundreds of years.

I'm still glad they, most of them anyway, pick up after their dogs.

According to a short piece in New York Magazine Intelligencer Section, this has been a bumper year for NYC red tail hawks: 35 nests in the city (5 in Manhattan) and most of the mating pairs are producing three and four chicks instead of the usual two.

The Audubon Society is trying to produce a protocol for accommmodating inept fledglings.

One bird left in PA, just watching the trains roll by.

The last one for this year

Saw two birds today. Can't tell whether it's the empty nester parents or a parent and child. But there was definitely some dissension. One pecked the other!!

Shocking. Shocked

Is it that time of the year already? Time certainly does fly when you're having fun.

Thanks for the heads up, Beth.

@farmerman,
Wow, they have the camera on and I think I see eyes in the light. Maybe just some aerial rats (pigeons)

Camera still off in New York.
Shall we try to find other cameras we can peer through?

Just checked the PA site. Nobody home at the moment, but the camera appears operatinal. And there are a few feathers around--signs of life.
