In the above article a man is on trial in Afghan to be executed for converting to Christianity from Islam.
According to Sharia or Islamic law death is the punishment for apostasy or abandoning Islam.
Islam is the one true religion and Allah the one true god, but believe in anything else and be put to death.... how wrong.
Christians stopped killing people for being non-Christian hundreds of years ago. When are Muslims going to learn that killing people for reasons Christians used is wrong?

Would that your assertion be true.
They are killed because the truth was revealed before them; yet they refused it and decided to turn their back on it.
It is equivilant to treason in political terms, betray your country and your killed. Betray your Lord and his Messenger, only God knows what punishment he will face after he is put to death.
Raul-7- There is something very strange about this entire concept. You gave the example of treason. If a person commits treason to the state, it is the state that metes out the punishment.
If, as you imply, a person commits treason against the "lord and messinger", is it not up to the god to deal with the transgressor? Why, in this case, is the state involving themselves with this issue at all? Why is it the state's business about what a person believes?

Gee Raul, wouldn't it be nice if all religions were as vain as yours. Just think what this world would be like if all religions killed their own for leaving their religion.
For you to believe that your religion is so rightous that you have to kill people for leaving it shows how evil and wicked your belief is.
I would think it would be up to God to decide if anyone should be punished for their religious beliefs, not Muslims.
It is pretty shocking to Christians that an Islamic government is being asked to sanction an execution based on belief. How many years has it been since a Christian majority nation used the power of it's government to round up and execute non-Christians?
I don't know. When did the Allies liberate Auschwitz?

Why make a martyr of Raul by blaming him for the entire system of sharia?
On this board, the level of intolerance, fear and hatred of a different belief system is positively medieval at times. That leads me to another thought -- Islam is approximately 600 years younger than Christianity. Six hundred years ago, Christians were killing, with great inventiveness, all the heretics, witches, apostates, Jews and Muslims that they could find.
I think you would find that the Christian Church, the leader of this bloodbath, found that apostasy was the greatest of the sins and the most deserving of their special attention.
I wonder if the whole issue is one of maturation.

Yup, forget maturation. And unfortunately, complete exhaustion hasn't set in yet either. Thinking about the Balkans ....
I hadn't forgotten about the Balkans, some real holier than thou and your miserable children cleansing going on there, and every day in India some Hindus burn down a Christian's shack and some Christians murder a few Hindus while the local governments work very hard on improving the mail service.
Lest we forget, every time someone mentions Darfur, which is never often enough, they are invoking the name of a place where a government is presently employing the Janjuweed to systematically murder a population who does not adhere to Islam, the religion of peace.
