Who is Mr Milinkevich? If you do not know, you are welcome to ask me.

This is a guy in Belarus who was sponsored by the West to sort of make Belarusian opposition join together and win presidential election. Yet, when the polling in this country was over, it got clear that Mr Milinkevich is an outright lay figure in politics. According to official election results, Milinkevich was only able to get 2 per cent of votes which means he was completely overwhelmed by his competitor Lukashenko. That's a bitter truth - Mr Milinkevich is a complete nobody, he is politically dead and all the money he got from the West must have stuck to his hands rather than be used to organize a worthful election campaign.

However, for some reason Lithuanian authorities still keep agitating European Union to go on supporting Mr Milinkevich and allot him some more money to proceed the election struggle. This is ridiculous. What do they build upon? Perhaps they have some future plans relating Byelorussia and Milinkevich himself. And they are exploiting EU with the aim.

OK, I have a few questions.

How much airtime did Milinkevich get on the Belarussian TV? Was he ever mentioned in news reports at all, and if he was, was it ever other than in a negative way?

What about other opposition candidates? Did Belarussian TV news devote any attention to their campaigns, and of what kind? What kind of coverage did Lukashenko get?

Were there televised debates between Lukashenko and any opposition leader? Were there televised debates between any supporter and opponent of Lukashenko?

Are there any national newspapers that are generally supportive of the opposition or critical to Lukashenko?

Did anyone get arrested during the campaign? Opposition leaders, activists?

Who manned the election commissions at the polling stations? Were any opposition observers allowed to monitor the counting of the votes?

(Milinkevich got 6%, according to the official tallies, btw, not 2%)
