my older boy cat gets real long hair on his paws ... I trim that because he's not allowed outside where it would wear off on it's own .. if I were to leave it, he'd be sliding around on the laminate floors like he was wearing socks ...

as far as cleanliness goes, I don't have any issues with litter, but Rajah (the boy cat) does tend to get more knotted hair clumps than his sister does... of course, he might not be able to reach either ... he's about 25 lbs and has issues reaching his back.

Xaela,

Welcome to A2K! Your cat weighs 25 pounds? What does the vet say? That's a lot of cat!

thank you ...

he's chubby, but not overly fat ... he still has a lot of loose skin ... his head's about 5" across ... his paws about 1 1/2-2" ... when he stands up, he can stretch and peek his head over the kitchen counter to see what's going on up there.

I haven't taken him to the vet since I got him again (his sister and he have been staying with family until I was in a place I could have them again and now we have two new kittens as well) ... he's due for another trip, but vets have been expensive lately with the new kittens and their vaccinations

When he was 6 months old and we took him to get neutered, the vet swore that he was 9 months old because of his size.

Him and I .. just to give perspective to the size ... he takes up the length of a whole couch cushion when he lays on the couch....

P.S. I'm still waiting for him to take care of the cat litter himself. Last night he chewed off and discared a little tangle of cat litter and hair from his paw (and left it on the couch, of course), but there is still a bunch more left.

I think I'll have to take a more pro-active approach if he doesn't get the job done by the weekend.

Oh, and thanks for all the advice, everyone. You guys are so damn smart and helpful. In fact, the next time you are feeling dirty, I'd like to offer to lick you all clean in return for the good advice.
