I understand what you mean. I live in the Seattle area and I'm sure there are 10 Starbucks within 2 miles of my condo. There are also at least 25 independents, and a dozen or so larger competitors like Tulleys. In my vehicles, I keep stacks of the buy-ten-get-one-free cards and always seem to have one for whoever is convenient.

But, it must be a real struggle to own and operate one of these stands. Though the margins are huge, the hours suck. I've seen a few go out of business.

Starbucks is overpriced, but I still don't hate them.

They pay their employees a decent wage with health benefits that far exceed those of Wal and K Mart.

They have cool stuff like CDs and special promotions. I buy those trinkets to give away to my customers. When I slap down the 'Ichiro' Starbucks card on the table, the sale is closed.

So, yeah, Starbucks is a 700 pound Gorilla and their karma is scary, but it could be a lot worse.

Oh, I think we mostly agree.

It's just that I don't hate them as long as they are useful to me.

I'm an unashamed hypocrite, I guess.

Nah, neologist. This is dys' way. He starts a thread, get people hopping, then promptly vanishes! He's probably started 5 more by now!

Dear msolga Because of world life is first step of second life..
Become rich for poor people ..
Fight for honour..
My Prophet Mohammed says...''work to world as if you will not die to the eternity.. pray for as second life and God as if you will die today.. Best one is who prefers second...''
