Dagmaraka and I just did a little research on her new neighbors. She had wondered who the guy in the pictures all over their house was. Today she learned the name of the man and we looked him up. Turns out it's a bit of a cult. Do any of you A2Kers know anything about this group?

Link to Freedom of Mind, a site devoted to exposing harmful sects among other things.....
Yeah, he's a con man.
The one thing that differentiates him from most con men, however, is that he is an extremely adroit one.
Yikes.
As someone with experience with cults, Dag, be careful. Don't accept invitation one from them. If you feel like a cad, don't worry about it. Just don't even get involved, AT ALL.
And that's great that you figured it out.
Dag- Please stay away, even if you have to be rude. These con men are very convincing, and imperceptably, a person can get hooked into a cult. I would warn my friends and other neighbors too!
I shall be careful. I was up there for tea, they were awfully nice. From what I understand they are a bit secretive about their sect or what is it, so perhaps they won't try to convert me. They are very very nice people, perhaps too nice, you know. Their place (right above our condo) is being sold right now, so hopefully they will be gone in a few months. But the real estate agent mentioned she approached them if they don't want to buy the place, which send shivers down my spine - that would mean a lot more cohenites coming in and out, i don't like that, even if they were the nicest people in the universe.
The real estate agent saw me raking the garden yesterday and invited me in, cause she had an open house for other real estate agents. the people were out, so i peaked around and found the name of the leader on the posters /videos/ audiotapes, every square meter there was something. ran home to look the guy up online, and voila. a bit worse than i thought. i knew they were all associated with some 'center' they kept mentioning vaguely, but i thought it's more like a free time activities centers for christians, or something harmless. oh well, i will steer away from them.
well, the guy on the link on the site (nice grammar, sheesh!) made to unveil cults says that they don't really work at recruiting.
Oh. That's good, then. The one I got entangled with was big on recruiting. Really big on recruiting. Gawd they were persistent.
I wonder, how do they have those thousands of members? Is it the yoga teaching thing, or what draws them there? from interaction with them i know they don't talk about the center to the outsiders, so how do they get all the new members? would so love to ask them openly, but don't want to end up with 20 cohenites choking me and burying me in my own beautiful (or soon to be) backyard.
Soz - scientology?
Dag, naaaaah, I don't get the impression that they're dangerous, just fanatical.
Dear Dagmaraka,
Why are you worried about the society? Go with it, don't you worry about a thing...everything is going to be alright.
Love

Meljapa- Welcome to Able2KNOW!
little k
Are you experienced?
Yes, welcome, but no thank you. I will remain sect-less.
I'm guessing we lost some posts here?
No, we just have creative imaginations...
