A bit of a paradox. If you can see it, then you are not a cultural by product. If you are not aware of your cultural programming, then they have you by the ... well you get the idea.

The question is asking: how much of who you are, as a person, is a result of the influences your society has had on your life? Influences like language, moral and ethical beliefs, religion, diet, climate; language, artwork, and recreation. All of these factors have helped turn the baby that you once were (a clean slate) into the person you are now.

It may be helpful to think, how would I be different if I had grown up differently? If I spoke a different language, would I think slightly different? If I ate different food, played soccer instead of baseball, listened to only Religious music, was taught to read several books a week; how would these things (which other cultures do) have changed my life?

Once you can think of that, you can start to think about the factors which you grew up with; and how they formed the person you are.

Good luck

Hey, I had an assignment that I interpreted the same way. I entitled it "You are what you read" I concluded with the thought that no one had the right to tell me who I was going to be.
