I have thought long and hard on this and have come to the conclusion that the power of humor has for the most part been exempted from the popular beliefs.
I therefore must ask the question how and why our major religious tomes and institutions are so lacking in proclaiming this essential force, and how we should tap into this elemental drive to further God's divine word.
Interesting point. I wonder if there were a couple of good jokes in the old testament but the passage of time and culture means we don't 'get it' anymore - the trials of Job are kind of funny....in a farcical sort of way.
And Moses dragging the chosen ones around the desert for 40 years, almost reads like a 'lost patrol' joke. Didn't Joseph Heller do a sort of weird take on King David's late life that didn't contradict the bible, but was a possible interpretation?
Don't buddhists have a thing about laughing? Excuse my ignorance....
Your a hoot, Chumly.
Ain't that enough?
just google for +bible+humour and you'll find plenty of good-humoured stuff about the bible and its messages.
have fun . hbg
