[answered] Slowed Response Time To Editing Posts

Over the day, A2K has its periods of being very fast, and sometimes it is a bit slower. I have noticed something, though. Let's say I post something, and take a look at what I posted. Dagnabbit...............I see some kind of spelling or other mistake that I have to edit.

Now at this time, for instance, the site has been running quickly. But the edit seems to go so much slower than the original post. So I sit there, biting my nails, hoping that the edit will "take" before someone posts in between.

Why does editing a post seem to take more time that posting it originally?

I've wondered the same thing.

I think it's a much bigger load on the server -- that came up in terms of why the ability to edit things that have been responded to was stopped, in the first place.

Yep, it's server load. The rewriting of posts means that a lot of other stuff is updated, such as search, and that doesn't happen immediately.
