My Dh has been offered a job in North Sydney(Walker St)He would be going there in 2 weeks and we would be joining in 1 months time or so.
Currently, we are in California.
His package is a base of USD$90K p.a, full medical insurance and relocation for family.The company would be applying for PR after 6 months.
I have 3 kids(7 yrs old,4yrs old and 17 months).
My questions are as follows
1.of course the first one is what areas to live in?He doesnt want a long commute.
2.Schools for the 7and 4 yr old. Public? Private?
3.How much does it cost to have a minivan(like the odyssey or sienna)? Taxes, Cost of Car, Gas prices?

1. Where to live. Plenty of options northside. City railway runs through North Sydney to Hornsby and beyond.
Check domain.com.au for what's available.
You gets what you pays for and it depends on what you want / need / expect.
2. Schools - public or private - religious or non-religious - plenty of all - take your pick.
3. Car - Odyssey - new - roughly $50,000. Killer is petrol (what we call gas) which is much higher than in US. Currently about $1.30 litre - not up to trying to convert that at present. Cars on the whole are smaller. Taxes - too many variables.
The Sydney Morning Herald classifieds (of which domain.com.au is part) - are a good place to start - and for you to get some ideas of what's happening in Sydney (synopsis - bloody hot and no good news!) smh.com.au
