Dys,

I think you have a good point. I've been thinking about this since last night, and I think sometimes it's better not to be a "star."

There can be a disadvantage to it (being a star, I mean).

I would guess that I am one of if not the most "outside" posters on a2k (which I find a good place to be).

You're on my favourites list, but I do not have kid gloves....only satin.

He is a star, and he gets away with everything. He's the President of A2K, which disturbs him, due to his anarchical sensibilities.

He's on just about everybody's Favorites List. He has a big hat, sexy boots and a laconic delivery. What's not to adore?

Is there an echo in here? Laughing

Anyway, I think I'd make a good queen. (eyes shining) I'd go out in my carriage everyday all over A2K land....I'd wave to everyone....I'd call to my people....and they'd call back to me..... Razz

Ah, I thought it was a knight in shining armor/ damsel in distress kind of thing.

Kicky seems to have been ID'ed as one of the "stars" people are complaining about. One thing that people who haven't been around as long don't know is that a lot of the time these "stars" HAVE been confronted, loud and long, until some kind of understanding has been reached. I did plenty of Kicky-confronting, anyway. But over time he's proven himself to be a mensch.

If you don't think he is, go ahead and confront him. What's holding you back?

Nah. I don't know any damsels in distress. If you mean at A2k, it seems that any damsel here would be more than able to defend themselves.

Not sure who were responding to on the 2nd parts, Soz. If it was me, I have no problem with Kicky. If it was my comment about go tell it to your president, then that was a smart ass remark I made to dlowan. Probably not all that funny afterall.

The second part was more general about the "stars" chatter on this thread ("people are complaining about..."), not directed at you.

man, I go away for a couple days and all hell breaks loose. Hey, Momma, I hope things are ok with you today. Dys, what's this about not being a star? Of course you are!

edit: and I mean that in the sweetest way possible.

Okay, I don't know that I can explain this very succinctly, but here goes:

Personally, for my part in the "stars" conversation, I wasn't saying that I think those people who get treated differently need to be confronted. I meant (and I think Stray might have meant the same thing) that some people here get away with jokes that someone else making would get crap for; when you are newer, you think you'll be given the same treatment that you see others getting, so you can get yourself in trouble for comments that would have been all right coming from someone else. This doesn't mean that the people who can make these comments need to be confronted.

I think the over the top jokes and not-entirely-joking, a-little-bit-rude comments made by people here (Kicky wasn't someone I specifically had in mind when I responded to Stray) are funny. I'm not saying I think the A2K stars need to get confronted on anything. I just think that the cliques here are pretty noticeable, and that some of you don't realize how cliqueish it gets around here at times. But it's also not too surprising, since many of you know each other well, and so those of us who are new have to learn that we won't be accorded the same leeway that's given among those of you who've been acquainted for a long time.

Anyway, just thought I'd clarify what I was saying.

I certainly agree on that point, and I've been here for a year.

I'm not particularily judging that, but I do think it influences the "newish" folks who have decided to give this board a try. I think the turnover rate is fairly high when you feel like an outsider.
