Yes, you are right about that.
Australia has a right to be different if it wants.
Between us and the rest of the world lies a lot of water hence our customs are bound to differ.
Could have been influenced by them Cockney's getting there first!
Didn't the Irish have something to do with it too?
Every Mick got second place to the Cockney's, didn't they?
Fortunately they are all just Ozzies now.
Good one Clary, true blue fair dinkum Aussies, that's what we are now, perhaps a little bit of Dutch influence, after all we discovered the place in 1606.
How true, Van Diemen could have named all the places after Dutch royalty and statesmen, wouldn't that have been neat?
I just wish to correct you, Willem Janz. discovered Australia in 1606 in his ship "t'Duifje". Abel Tasman discovered "Anthoonij van Diemenslandt" now Tasmaniaa in 1642. He named it after Anthony van Diemen who was the Governor General of the Dutch East Indies at the time. There are still many Dutch names to be found on the current map of Australia.
Janz is a name unknown to me, I stand corrected; how on earth do you pronounced 't'Duifje'?
Kool, for a Dutchman who speaks with forked tongue not a problem.
Look at that for knowledge!!
Mathos, what languages do you speak?
No idea, let Mathos speak for himself.
Oh, no worries about his being shy or reluctant to talk, Dutchy.
Probably probing Mathos into action now.
Questions, questions questions all the time....English, nearly.
