Good one Clary, true blue fair dinkum Aussies, that's what we are now, perhaps a little bit of Dutch influence, after all we discovered the place in 1606. Smile

How true, Van Diemen could have named all the places after Dutch royalty and statesmen, wouldn't that have been neat?

I just wish to correct you, Willem Janz. discovered Australia in 1606 in his ship "t'Duifje". Abel Tasman discovered "Anthoonij van Diemenslandt" now Tasmaniaa in 1642. He named it after Anthony van Diemen who was the Governor General of the Dutch East Indies at the time. There are still many Dutch names to be found on the current map of Australia.

Janz is a name unknown to me, I stand corrected; how on earth do you pronounced 't'Duifje'?

Roughly translated for god knows how many times...I do not consider myself to be well educated at all, I left school at 16 and went working in a Jaguar workshop. I am well educated in life though, believe me!

My cousin is one of The Country's most senior Judges, usually working from the Old Bailey, we have some great discussions..If you want to see REAL education..See my cousin!
