1. Is it really religion that makes you think that killing, lying, stealing, et cetera are bad? Would you not think that those are bad if you had not encountered religion?

2. Would the world be better without religion?

Answer to the first one...no it is not religion it is the whacking of the wooden side of the hairbrush against my rear when I lied or stole, and that sad episode of The Andy Griffith Show where Opie kills a bird that tells me killing ain't right. There are many atheists and persons who have no belief in God or any Divine Being who feel murder, theft and lies are bad....so religion is not the only thing to bring about those beliefs.

If the world had no religion it would be different...not necessarily better or worse.

1)a. No; Religion may provide an excuse, but is not the cause

1)b. Yes; or one should.

2) Many believe so.

1. I believe there are certain rights and wrongs that though they can be traced back to religion, they would still be right or wrong IMO without religion.

2. It's not that religion needs to be done away with. It's just the message has been distorted.

Perhaps if someone would actually answer Bartikus, he wouldn't have to keep asking the question.

No, not religion - a conscience implanted in me by God.

Yes, I would most likely still think they were bad.

Yes ... and no, as the religions of the world bring both good and bad.
