About 75% of the time, the sidebar ads I get are for singles dating services, and typically feature a scantilly clad female.
Being that I fiddle with A2K at work and at home, it is a bit annoying to have these ads on my screen.
I thought the ads were targeted, but I'm not exactly in here trolling for women. What gives?
cjhsa - Strange......I never noticed those sorts of ads. Then again, I make it my businness never to notice internet ads!
Try changing your profile to say that you're a woman. Then you can get pictures of scantily-clad men.
I used to get those--i don't get 'em anymore . . .
Some people have all the luck . . .

the juxtaposition was irresistable..
It could just be me. As a male my eyes tend to notice the buff babe with her boobs hanging out instead of the AT&T ad.
I get Canadian Career Training for:
Medical / Nursing
Criminal Justice
Business
Computers
I just got another one. Craven told me before not to post links to advertisers content, so I can't post it for your enjoyment.

Could someone explain how this works? I thought they were just random.
It's probably from posting in so many of Slappy's threads...
I have to agree with cjhsa here. I often get the babe ads, too. What I love about 'em (besides the guilty pleasure they provide) is the notion that these women are so desperate to meet guys that they'd be available through an on-line singles service.
Right...
If these ads are supposedly using targeted info, how does it gather said stuff?
My understanding is that it is based on your posts and what forums you've posted in.
hmmm. i don't see any ads anywhere. but i fork over a load of money to a2k each month (um, about $5?). i guess that's the benefit of the subscriber status...?
Could be. Good for you Dag.
Wasn't that you in that last ad?
pssst. i do that incognito. i don't want my students to know...
I get the scantily clad women, as has been noted in a few of my threads, also.
So...changing your profile to a woman doesn't solve the nekkid problem.

I can't imagine that advertising could somehow sense what we all have in our personal profiles. That would seem a poor way of profiling anyways, because many don't have theirs filled out.
