This is true of simple breathing exercises as well. Many people who pray...don't do so for these reasons.
Some answers to prayers can be answered by the power of one's mind or oneself. Other answers that people receive point to a far greater power.
When a person gets down on their hands and knees in tears before God they are often asking, hoping, and believing in the miraculous.
I pray for such things almost daily.
