I just KNEW you were a kindred spirit <simpers>

Quote:
Orcadian (or Shetland) Strip the Willow
Formation: Couples in a long line down the room, men on the right and ladies on the left as viewed from the band. Couples number from nearest the band.
Music: 6/8 or 9/8 double jigs. E.g. "The Irish Washerwoman", "The Curlew", "The Jig of Slurs" for 6/8 and "Drops of Brandy" for 9/8.

Bars: Description

1-8 1st couple spin RH.

9-... 1st couple work down the opposite line (ie of the people of the opposite sex) turning side person LH, partner RH, next side person LH, ...

When 1st couple reach the bottom, they spin to the end of the phrase, then join the side lines.

A new couple starts every 16 bars.

Personally, I prefer 7/8 time. Sooooo much more interesting than the mundane 6/8 or 9/8.

My wife and I once danced a waltz in 5/4. Nobody else could figure out how we did it.

Neither could we.

You ain't missing a thing but lots of groaning recriminations on the religion forums. There is no free thought tolerated there, unless you like getting screamed at.

Hi Edgar,
I haven't had much time for the computer in ages and it's been a long time since I've visited here on A2K. I've been unable to spare the time because my special dog Sadie had surgery to repair 10 ruptured discs and required around the clock monitoring. We are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Sadie is a lot happier, just a little unsteady on her feet but at last is free of the pain that nearly immobilized her for the last 8 or 9 months. She actually ran the other day, and she hasn't done that in a looooonnnnnggggg time. She's back to bossing around poor old Chloe, our dim-witted Springer and is feeling so well she is making a pest of herself. That's not a complaint, it's actually a good thing.

Enough of that, I was interested in your thread because I have noticed the same thing in other forums. Someone takes a dislike to someone and interprets everything as being offensive to them directly. Just who are these people and why do they have so much free time. For me, these forums are about entertainment and enjoyment. It's very pleasing when someone reacts positively about something you wrote and it's also head scratching time when you get charged with bad behaviour.

So, I agree and think everyone should lighten up and take time to smell the roses. By the way dlowan, is it true Aussies eat with their feet? I hope you know that was a joke, I haven't been around for quite some time so I guess I shouldn't be pulling any legs.

Happy New Year from Annapolis

I suspected as much.

I think I'll stick to my oddball stories.

On the subject of offending threads and posts, I don't understand why a member would get so offended as to make a personal attack on another member, as occasionally happens. Once they go too far, they lose their posting priveleges and can no longer make the points important to them. Plus, they lose contact with some of the friends they've made. It's only a forum, not life and death. Why take it so seriously?
