Until the technology allows such accurate study of extra solar system planets, studying stars has a better chance of finding out if their's life out there in outer reaches of the galaxy.

Living on a colony on Mars (never to be able to return to Earth again) or living on a colony on the moon where return visits are frequent?

I suppose the moon. I'd like to be able to go back. Also, I've heard you can do lots of fun things in the low gravity.

Live underground on Mars with a handful of strangers for the rest of your life or stay on an Earth that is days away from destruction?

I only wore a bow tie once and got a lot of grief over it/gently mocked for it. Besides neck ties are much easier to put on.

Attending a formal event serving champagne and appetizers and milling around and chatting with the guests or a formal dinner, sitting down at a candle lit table eating a 3 or 4 course meal and chatting with a couple friends at your table?

Mountain stream: Very Happy Peace and quiet. No sand in the food. Good source of shade.
