I like finches. But, they don't come close to the top of my list. Do any of you know junkoes? Have you seen them lately?
Plenty of junkoes in our fields. They're busy little guys this time of year
I miss them. I think I saw a couple last winter on cape cod..... maybe more will visit this year.
They're little dark grey fuzzballs.
BorisKitten, I don't think it has anything to do with the Avian flu.
I'm wondering if you changed the brand of seed you put in the feeder, or is it possible that the brand you have been buying, now contains less of the kind of seeds cardinals like best? I know they like thistle, so I always buy extra and combine it with the multiple seed mixture.
The juncoes arrived here nearly a month early--supposedly fleeing a hard, Canadian winter.
Picture here, if someone clever can transfer it:

Plenty of birds at my backyard feeders. All the usual suspects, plus an increase in Northern Flickers (or hybrids). Juncoes, too, although they prefer to eat from the ground.
Yesterday a male mourning dove approached his lady love and suggested they make whoopee.
She spurned him. Evidently four clutches a year are enough.
<snort!> They are prolific, aren't they.
Wow, what a lot of replies!
I hadn't thought of the hurricanes, but if I were a bird, I'd be long gone, even though they didn't really come that close to us this year.
We're using the same brand of seed (Black Oil Sunflower) and have even tried switching brands, but still hardly any birds.
I'm hoping they'll come back soon! I miss our little feathered friends.
