hi there
iam trying to write my essay in philosophy and i got a few quotes from aristotle and was wondering if someone could clarify them for me so i understand them better so i can do my essay.
if happiness is an activity in accordance with virtue it should be accordance with the highest virtue
that which is proper to each thing is by nature best and most pleasent from each thing, for man therefore the life according to reason is best and pleasent since reason more than anything else is man. this life therefore is also the happiest
since happiness is an activcity of soul accordance with perfect virtue we must consider the nature of virtue for perhaps we shall thus see better the nature of happiness
If virtue and happiness were to be one certainly one of it's off shouts would be HOPE.

Happiness is not an activity but a feeling. A feeling is generated. And reason cannot stand as a platform for it alone because you can find people doing wrong things, justifying themselves and thinking themselves to be happy but they are not. Therefore, only soul can stand as a platform for happiness. If something is soul satisfying you'll be happy.
