I suppose some are smart and caring and I suppose some are not. I have met both of the Mormon faith.

I think that you paint with too broad a brush. How can you make an blanket statement about an entire group of people? I am sure that Mormons run the gamut from unkind to kind, stupid to smart, just like other groups of people.

Are you looking for a pat on the back?

I don't know all Mormons so I have no basis to agree or disagree with your statement. The ones who knock on my door really tick me off.

The Book of Mormon, as vouchsafed to us by Phoney Maroni, however, is a hoot. Religious comic relief of the highest order.

Are you saying this for a particular reason? Are you yourself a Mormon and want the world to know this? I have met Mormons who are smart and those who couldn't figure how to open a door if their life depended upon it. Caring? Hard to tell. Aren't these the folks who believed a man could have several wives and children? How caring is that since they cannot devote full attention to any of them? Good? Aren't all people essentially good...at least at the very start of life?

Mormons are good and not so good, caring and not so caring, smart and not so smart. Same as every other group of people and that is what Mormons are...PEOPLE.

This one Mormon I knew - she was of the dumb uncaring variety. She used to call parking spaces in front of stores "Mormon Spaces". Like all front parking spaces should be reserved for Mormons - sounds very caring to me.

I doubt that knowitall is familiar with the concept of 'poisoning the well' either, Set. Or even such things as 'stereotyping' and 'generalization.'

That's whores of a different choler, I think. Or was it 'collar'?

I thought Moronic whores only came in lillywhite. I'll have to dig out my book of Moron to check.

I used to play in a rural basketball league and the local Mormon church had a team (naturally called LDS). They were okay. They used to whinge at the umpire, commit personal fouls on us, try it on with the umpire - just like we did to them.

A couple of years ago I accompanied two representatives of the government of the Republic of Latvia doing research on freedom of religion and the separation of church and state in the US. I had been assigned as a rather superfluous interpreter as it turned out that both spoke very decent English. Anyway, one of the stops on our itinerary was Salt Lake City and meetings with some top church officials as well as some non-Mormon ("gentile") clergy in Utah. Imagine my surprise to discover that Mormons are just like all the rest of us -- average human beings. I just wish they drank coffee like most sane people.
