What does this term mean at the beginning of an entry in the list of my topics?

From what I understand. A2K uses the "featured" posts to advertise the forum based upon general interestingness.

Each forum has a certain number of "featured" posts. The posts are chosen based on timeliness, interest or uniqueness. The "featured" posts float to the top of their forum, so that they are more easily seen.
