I believe Europe has weathered a lot more storms
than this. You might read up on European history
and then you probably can answer your own question.

What do you mean by weathered. For instance, to review european history for the last 100 years,

WWI 60 million dead
Collectivization of Agriculture USSR 20 million dead
WWII 70 million dead

Not to mention, the 4 or 5 wars in the balkans between the world wars, the Bosnia/Kosovo war, the Greek Turkish war, The Russo Finish war, the Holocaust, etc. etc. etc..

Of course there will be a europe. The point of the post is what will happen to that europe in light of it's economic and now apparent social failure.

Maybe you are ignorant of european history?

Being born and raised in Europe, I am certainly not ignorant
of European history.

Your one line question didn't leave much room than to
answer it in this manner. Now your next paragraph isn't
much better.

Where did you get the idea that there is a social failure
in Europe? There is an economic crisis, no question about
it, however, nothing that cannot be resolved.

Europe has been around a lot longer than the United States,
and yes, has seen many wars and casualties, and always
recuperated from it and emerged as a social-democratic and
economic strong competitor.

There is no European nanny state - never was and never
will be.

No. The various states of Europe have seen much privation over the last hundred years but have continued to exist. The current situation is a mere ripple.

You'll have to wait to dance with glee on Europe's grave. You'll have to wait a very long time.

Calamity, obviously, you are unaware of the impending collapse of the european social welfare net, europe's military impotence, technological inferiority and demographic meltdown. This, along with your reliance on vague sweeping statements which are completely meaningless makes you a typical european.

The fact is the collapse of the socialist welfare model in europe has been predicted for several decades now and seems to be unfolding as predicted and in schedule. To simply state that europe has been around a long time and will be around for a long time is idiotic. The question is what will europe be like to live in, what will happen to european society in light of ongoing developments.

At this time, the EU is about half as wealthy per capita as the US, has the same crime rate which is growing while America's declines and has a horrific demographic problem. The EU is about half as prolific as the US in terms of technological innovation and is acknowledged (as is now being demonstrated) far inferior to the U.S., in terms of ability to assimilate successfully immigrants.

You also miss the signifigance of europe's history for the last 100 years... europe survived the 20th century all right, but at what cost? The truth is, the european model is grossly inferior to the U.S. model. Europe will survive, but to survive well it will have to change, radically.

Counting down....

Seriously, to refer to the "socialist welfare model" in an area as diverse as Europe is risible. I'm not European (well I am but I don't live in Europe), but even I know that this claim is ridiculous. Before you start getting on the glad rags for the funeral of Europe check your own economy out. Bush and his mates have handed you over to China and Japan. Now before you get upset about that note this - I think that it is not a good thing. I am more than happy to see the US as the world's dominant economy because - societal faults acknowledged - the US is a better society than China (forget Japan for the moment) and its values are preferable to those of the PRC.

I just hope you get rid of Bush and Cheney and the others as quickly as possible and resume normal operations.

If you don't then a strong Europe is the world's only hope against the dominance of China.

I don't want europe to collapse. I want the lying deceitful socialists and their allies like the greens to be thoroughly exposed for the frauds they are, for the socialism to be utterly defeated and for europe to admit the superority of the American model by adopting it. The mongoloids can be dealt with later as they are numerous but basically inferior due to groupthink and a serious lack of creativity and innovation make them ultimately less of a threat the U.S. Hegemony than many are allowing.
