Welcome to A2K.
Well, I had posted this quiz almost a year back. How did you get to it?
Dublin is correct. Rest are incorrect.
The country in #4 isn't Madagascar? I thought Vasco Da Gama was a close anagram.
6. Shanghai
9. Rome
I can't see the counry in #9.
I found this thread as I went back page by page to read most of the riddles.
9.Bombed in World War 2nd , its country
Is the European tiger. Many Remember it for Eua-de
.
Thanks for pointing it out, I have modified no. 9. Now, you should be able to find it.
Your answers for #6 and #9 are still incorrect. Madagascar is not a right guess for #4. You should glide over the couplet again to find out the name for the country.
4. Johanessburg
6. Macao
9. Berlin
You've got the countries right, but the cities are yet not.....
Keep on trying, baby!
4. Pretoria
6. Singapore
9. Bonn
Sorry, Thoh13. Still not there.
4. Da Game didn't do overly much with South Africa, except sail around it.
You seem to be talking about cities, and Cape of Good Hope isn't one, Cape Town is, but that wasn't it.
Dias named the cape, anyways, and it was called the Cape of Storms, to be renamed later to it's present name.
Perhaps you mean East London?
6. Guangzhou. I take it you mean the Si Kiang? (Xi river?)
9. Munich
najmelliw
No. 4 is exactly Cape Agulhas, 170 kilometres south of Cape Town. Yes, I think Cape Town qualifies as the answer as Cape Agulhas is not a city. (Sorry Markr and Thoh13)
Your answer for no.6 is absolutely correct. Guangzhou, or Canton, the provincial capital of Guangdong is the largest port and is located at the mouth of the river Si Kiang (some of the books refer to it as Si Kiang, sorry for the confusion). Other names by which the river is known are Xi and Xi Jiang.
No. 9 is incorrect.
Just one more to go, guys.
No its not Bremen. I could give out a clue but its already there in the couplet.
Some of the books refer to Si Kiang as Sin Kiang, I wanted to say in my last post.
Go ahead
Curse me for not knowing Hotel names.
Cologne.
And did you know Kiang Sin is a chinese vampire?
COLOGNE is correct. It is the fourth largest city of Germany. It is named after the famous perfume Eau De Cologne. Well done, najmelliw.
Oh, and I didn't know about the vampire. Will look it up surely.
