I know nothing about your Diwali holiday. Could you explain?
Please accept my good wishes for your celebration.
Hi Noddy
Diwali is known as the festival of lights. It is celebrated over a period of 5 days, the third being the prominent one when everyone lights candles, decorates their houses with illuminted earthen lamps and sends fireworks into the sky.
The legend behind this fest can be traced back to an indian epic- Ramayana, when tthe king Rama returned after an exilation of 14 years to his hometown, the subjects celebrated his homecoming by lightning of lamps.
This is the biggest fest in the country. And symbolises brotherhood, victory of truth and brightness in life....etc
Anything else that you wish to know?

Thanks for the explanation.
I'm afraid my ignorance on Indian religions is so vast that I can't formulate many intelligent questions.

Essentially celebration of Diwali depicts the victory of good over evil and that is why we light lamps to dissipate the dark as dark represents bad and light represents good.
