"The Real Thing" - Faith No More

EXCELLENT.

"The Real Thing" is one of the first albums I ever owned, at least when I was old enough to develop an original taste. What an ecclectic album, like all of the Patton era FNM. I still rate Angel Dust above the Real Thing, but what a sweet album.

As for moi, I just purchased "Strawberries" by The Damned. Coincidentally, this album reminds me of FNM. Or FNM reminds me of the early 80s Damned. "Stawberries" is a slight departure from the proto punk of the 1970s Damned, but still way good.

Davendra Banhart - Nino Rojo. Before that Konono #1. Both great. Davendra will play in NYC sometime soon. Folksy, slightly whiney, but not annoying stuff.

Angel Dust is also my favourite, and I have them both on cassette(!) but saw it cheap on CD and decided to upgrade. I even got see them supporting Guns n Roses in 1992. Well cool.

Cool. I never got to see Faith No More. But I did see Tomahawk, one of Patton's many projects, featuring members of Jesus Lizard and Helmet.

Jesus Lizard is one of my all time favorites but I hate that Patton dude just because he recognized so widely as the singer of Faith no more when the the only real singer was the first one on there albums "Intoduce Yourself" and "We care alot"

Yeah Chuck Mosley was the first lead singer, and he really embodied the L.A. skater punk indentity of early FNM. We Care Alot is a rad song and those early albums are good.

But even though Patton sort of hops around to different projects, I am a huge fan of Mr. Bungle, his first band, which he started in high school with his buddies. So I give him props for that.

I like all the Mosely- and Patton-era FNM, but just couldn't get excited at the post-Big Jim Martin albums. "King..." is mediocre and I never even bothered with the last one.
