Graphing absolute value inequalities

i am given a problem y=/x/-2
i don't know if i need to solve for x and y or what do i do to graph this problem?

Break down the problem into two parts and graph each part. In the first part, x is positive, so you just graph y=x-2 for all positive (and zero) values of x. Next, do the part where x is negative. The absolute value of x for this range is -x, so the equation you need to graph is y= -x -2. You should end up with a V shape pointing downward with the point at (0,-2)
