Did or have I mentioned we (daughter) was recently given a horse?

This arabian mare came to my daughter well pretty much as a gift. You stop paying riding lessons and help with stalls 9 hours a week and it's all free and clear. So things have been going well the past few weeks. This seemed to be a nice event since the loss of our dog Banjo back in August.

Like 30 minutes ago the wife gets home from the riding stable and the horse is down(sick). Daughter is there with the horse Vet on the way and wife is returning to the stable very soon, this is bad news, seems like one more strike of bad luck for the husker family this year.

Gus you know safe in no threat or harm to come - I know in todays world we wonder about such things but I don't think horses worry about the same things Smile

If this turns bad it will be horrible for the daughter.

Oh. Before I go, husker, I would like to comment on the title of your thread. After clicking on the thread and reading your first post, I had this mental picture of you as you went through the composition process of this thread.

You sat down, already knowing the subject matter, but couldn't quite decide on the title.

You mused a bit and then mumbled, "Daughter receives horse for gift. Horse very sick."

But then you said, "Nope, too long."

Then you tried "Horse is ill. Vet on the way."

Still, didn't quite seem right.

Next you tried "I have an sick horse who is not standing up. Daughter owns horse. My wife is out there with her-"

But then you ran out of space.

Finally, exasperated, you said, "Fock it!" and typed in the current title.

Pretty close Gus - you things around here at times get hectic, stressful, and at times fun amid the rollercoaster

Arabians are so beautiful.

She looks like my old horse Shadow (except Shadow was a stallion).
Plus, your daughter's horse looks a bit older.

What's the horse's name? I hope she pulls through.

At 6:30 am this am the Mrs and Daughter drove to the stable and the horse was up walking around - so we're happy but guarded. The daughter has called 5 times looking for an update (she left on a HS Band trip (Calvade of Bands) you know like Drumline movie). We're waiting for a call but may drive out and just check it out.

Just home the Mare is looking good but still have a problem with what's called obstruction colic. She is going to be ridden tonight for an hour or two and then let loose in an indoor arena. Getting shots of banamine
it's recommended for the alleviation of visceral pain associated with colic in the horses.

Yeah...was fixin' to ask if it was colic...or if the horse had been "cribbin"?

They will suck in air and they can't belch...causes major problems!

well IMO amature - I think we just need a big oily crap and we're out of the woods.
Horse intestines are like 150 feet.

The more I get to know this horse the more I like her, she's like a cat and wants to touch and rub and be close and I've never ridden her yet.
