Soz,

That is one of the best ways to evaluate a riddle. I once wrote an essay on creating riddles and evaluating riddles. I will rewrite it one day and post it.

BTW, when you said it was not math it was obviously letters but determining the letters is a tough task when you do not use a 0 before the single digit letters, more importantly it's tough in a tedious way, not in a degree of difficulty way. Just a minor gripe (which I don't have the right to, if anyone has a right to gripe it's TGR who spent time trying to solve it).

If you like this type of riddle I know a few really good ones and I can make up some impossible bad ones.

Yeah, I thought of the two-digit thing. But I wanted to keep the first one as short as possible so that it looked more mathematical. (Also why I started with "May" instead of "January.")

I'm not generally too big on riddles, creating or solving, but in one of the last big Riddle Episodes I thought of this one for some reason, and then it came to mind again when you were solving 'em left and right on Friday and I thought some fresh fodder might be nice. Very Happy

My brother and I used to riddle each other a lot. We stopped when he started making up his own riddles. I prefer time tested riddles to personal creations.

Bug me to write the essay, this is a complicated subject that many are sure to disagree with me on.

What comes next in this series?

13125

1021145

10211215

Better half a year later than never...

If 13-1-25 = M-A-Y and 10-21-14-5 = J-U-N-E,
Then 10-21-12-15 = J-U-L-O

Shocked Woops!

True! Good catch! (Apologies for the typo -- "1" instead of "2".)
