Not Receiving Facebook Access Code

A friend reset his Facebook password after his account was hacked. FB tells him they are sending an access code to his associated email. He never receives it. He does not find it in his spam folder. He receives emails stating that his password has changed. That means that FB does have his correct email. His new password is rejected when he tries to log in. When he tries his old password, FB tells him that is an old password. So the account is still recognized. FB does not have his phone # associated with his account. Does anyone have any advice I can pass along to my friend?
