Riddle involving tax (help)

Hi Intense, welcome to the riddle forum. What a toughie to start with.

I will have a go and say;

"without (me) you wouldnt be home" = ho - (me)

"with (me) youd pay tax" = tax + (me)

"From a birds eye a waiting point"

Now this is a long shot. A perch is a freshwater bony fish belonging to the family Percidae. Perch, of which there are three species, lend their name to the largest order of vertebrates: the Percifor(me), from the Greek perke meaning perch.

At the end, it is only ?'me'

lol, thanks for the welcome. And I just told my friend your answer. He said that it's wrong. At first sight of the riddle, I came up with a roof or house. I could be wrong...

I like that thinking;

When the ?'hens' come home to roost= hen house.

I don't know if you would pay tax on a hen house.

How about property; without which you arent home-- upon which you pay tax... and a proper T would look like a waiting point to a bird...
