What is the underlying purpose and significance of the perpetual debate surrounding the existence or non-existence of a divine being? Does this discourse aim to render religious convictions irrelevant, or does it serve a deeper intention? Is the pursuit of this debate driven by an aspiration to nullify belief systems, or does it harbor a more profound objective? In contemplating the quest to establish or refute the existence of a higher power, what potential benefits emerge? Can the act of proving or disproving the presence of God yield valuable insights, and what does one stand to gain from satiating this inherent curiosity?
@Ventra,
I don't think the debate really
has purpose or significance. It's just a topic of conversation, like the Red Sox or Chevy vs Ford. Religious believers have a difficult time agreeing on a definition of God. Most non-believers don't even spend that much time thinking about the subject.
