Is Chritianity the word of God?

If so why do some Christians pick and choose which parts of the bible the belive?

For example in the same part of the bible it says that it is an abomination for man to layth with man, and it is an abomination to eat seafood without scales. So why do some christians think it is OK to eat shrimp, but not to be gay?

Also do changes in church policy act as an admition of previous error, a diloting of Gods word or God whos will changes with sociaty?
