Philosophers don't bake cakes-they eat them.
Perhaps confusing the two activities has created your situation.
If you concentrate on baking cakes perhaps the urge to philosophize will gradually wane.
You might consider Voltaire's advice and tend to the garden.Such practices inhibit philosophy which might explain their popularity.
What kind of cake is it ? Is it a devil's food cake ? That's my favorite.
