Hello. I've got a lot of grey hairs coming through the root and growing down to the ends. I need to do an all over colour really but I'm terrified of hairdressers so I want to do it myself. I hate it when hair dye goes dark though. My hair is naturally a mid brown I would say. In order to stop a guy doing dark, what colour should I go for? Can I put a lighter shade on my mid brown hair? Thanks

I am not a hairdresser but I suspect you will have to strip off the old color. That would be a product that you can buy at a beauty supply store like Sally's

I would just try to find a colour that matches yours and do root touch ups. You can get this in a spray so you don't have to do your whole head. Maybe ask a hair colourist which colour you should use. They can do the touch ups for you, as well. You don't need to do your whole head unless you have grey everywhere.
