There are 501-c-3 organizations (e.g., churches, synagogues) that conduct telephone voter registration drives. In many cases, the phone numbers called are drawn from a database of persons believed to be liberal (or, in other cases, believed to be conservative).
Thus the 501-c-3 tax-exempt organization is using its resources to favor one political party and possibly one particular candidate.
Is this legal?
