CNN News Alert: Tesla reports record sales plunge from last year
Tesla reported another record plunge in sales Wednesday, as brand damage from CEO Elon Musk’s political activities and increased competition continued to batter the once fast-growing electric car maker.
Tesla reported it sold 384,122 cars in the quarter, down nearly 60,000 cars, or 13.5% from the sales total a year ago. That marks the largest year-over-year drop in sales in the company’s history. However, that number is up 14.1% from its first quarter total.

Report: Tesla Cybertruck has higher rate of fire fatalities than the Ford Pinto
In its first year on the road, the Cybertruck ended up being tied to five fire fatalities through Jan. 1, a concerning trend that makes the rate of such fatalities higher than that of the notorious Ford Pinto, which was in production from 1970–80.
According to an analysis by auto news website Fuel Arc comparing the rate of fire fatalities in the Cybertruck's first year to that of the Ford Pinto during its life, the Cybertruck has a fatality rate 17 times of the problematic Pinto. Fuel Arc carried out its analysis by calculating the fire fatalities per 100,000 units, which was 14.5 for the Cybertruck compared to 0.85 for the Ford Pinto.
I'd be curious to see another bot argue with this one. Would it look different than any other back and forth typical of social media? Grok has identified a "trend" that I'm not convinced exists, and it preemptively defended itself against accusations of being hateful, which seems an odd thing for a bot that is incapable of hatred to do. Would another bot pick up on those sorts of things?
This shows the effects that can occur if the ‘training material’ of an AI is not selected carefully enough.
Unfortunately, the system/Grok probably gets most of its information from X, which is not necessarily known for balanced and fact-based posts.
Right. So we just need a more moderate bot to argue with it. Social media has existed long enough that we can anticipate some fairly recognizable 'spinouts', and I'm curious if the two bots would model those outcomes, or if we might see something new entirely.
In other words, I'm not interested in what they'd say so much as how they'd act and react vs humans making the same argument. Would they be tricked by false premises or call them out? Would their stances shift or change entirely as they attempt to explain their offensiveness? And usually when someone on the losing end of an argument has run out of ammo, they simply disappear.

@thack45,
The other thing to remember is AI is very deferential to the questioner. It will not tell you you are the asshole. I was listening today about it being used by men using coercive control on their partners.
Was just cleaning up a pinterest board and noticed this from 2024 (referring to a 2022 Musk tweet). What a genius.

Insightful. This alone will rope-a-dope a low level thinker: enlisting them by allowing them to come to your conclusions.
