@mywebsite001,
Office 365 is an Microsoft Account oriented software. When you make any Microsoft Account ( like via their forums or Email ) you can use that account for 365.
Now Microsoft Office ( the actual suite ) literally in terms of inflation would cost $1000 of dollars just to purchase. Even more so people are just "renting it out via subscriptions" It is tied to the OSW10 ( since 10 at least ?? ) and has similar requirements. The problem with activating your Windows is that.....
1. It could tie the activation to the machine ( which later could be disabled but again problematic ),
2. It could be activated until a specific year ( I think is 2030 ).
Honestly Windows 10 activation would be easy to navigate the Registery ( library in OSX ) but Microsoft did something cruel. It created commands that
was never written in. Meaning you literally have to know the OS back to back in order to write the command and give it the flag of 1 or 0 or whatever that term might be.
...
You can get a ____ copy of W10 or W11 with Office activated. However it would be lacking the online support of Microsoft. So if your one of those people who depends on Microsoft ( or whatever company ) for _____ then you might not want to do that.
365 is built in to all if not most windows since 8 ???? It requires a log-in to use. It is even built into Microsoft phones ( any phone with the OS they made for phones and tablets etc wireless device that is now out of sync since the later Surface series ).
Yes it is sad the selling point of Windows is the Office suite and further more you have to make a Microsoft account to use the 365 path.
However you should also checkout libre office and open office. Both work the same as Microsoft Works and documents can transfer over. I am from a Generation of people who grew up with Microsoft Works 95.
In fact I still have Microsoft Works 95 on my computer but again Libre Office and Open Office are far more better and cost nothing in comparison to Microsoft Office.
The problem with Office is that it is cheaper then a type-writer with ink-ribbon, and comes with spell-check ( since 97 ??? ) but non-for-profit organizations are bullied into it. NFP like
Universities ( colleges )
Hospitals and medical centers
Most City, State, Fed, agencies
As with Adobe I suspect they give out free copies to specific businesses as with Adobe.
Again Microsoft Office is tied the OS. Honestly I give a E#Q@ tooth about Windows security as most of the warnings are bypasses to unofficial vender drivers. W11 even considers the internal fire-wall being edited "the HOSTS file as an Alert.
In fact my sincere advice on terms of security would be to back up your copy of Windows, and then get a virus program that was recently updated with current terms and when in action make sure it does not delete anything but all is secured via search, and then checkout what is what.
........About Ransom-ware. Ransome ware only matters when you do two stupid things we do not do.
1. do not backup.
2. save to the working drive.
When you have anything important make sure it is on a drive or area on the drive not reachable via the OS.
Network drive
USB
Not within any account but on the top level of the drive
Even online storage is better ( you can get infinity storage for $300 dollars one time payment from some venders ).
If you want to really secure your OS I would encrypt it externally rather then using the OS internal options. But again you do not want to lock yourself out of the machine itself.
Even going as far as password protecting files via compression ( still could be cracked but requires tons of processing power )
.......................................................................................................................
I have a work computer, I have a fun computer, and I have a disposable computer. If you only have one machine and use them for the same purpose maybe not? But again most of those security alerts are suggested because of venders.
I do not really see the problem with using 365 ( online of course ). I do see a problem if you really need to download useless updates. I really hate being locked into something and wasting my money.
Would I pay for this product? No. Would I just download whatever and use it on a different machine? Yes.
In all honesty anti-virus programs have made my life difficult enough. My once perfect windows setup has an error. An error I have to search for via the register and correct because all Microsoft would advise me to do is reinstall everything.............
