My audiologist recommends that I purchase a particular brand and model of hearing aid. Does she receive a commission on my purchase?

@gollum,
Every one selling hearing aids does so at a profit. I would say that the recommendation is more meaningful if yours deals in several brands.

Just by the way, some audiologists deal with Medicare - IF you have a referral from your doctor. Medicare doesn't usually pay for hearing aids, but it is very helpful with the evaluation. This is something to keep in mind for the future.

@roger,
roger-

Thank you.

It makes it very hard for the patient to decide which brand/model to purchase and when.

@gollum,
If you're a veteran, try the VA. My dad got hearing aids for some ridiculously tiny percentage of what they cost via the doctor.

@jespah,
So did I. The hearing loss has to be service connected, or so great you cannot meaningfully participate in medical decisions - or wording to that effect.
