What is it with selfies and other pics?

I have two nieces who are into yoga who are continually posting pictures of themselves in impossible (for most of us) positions (and they are not the only ones doing it). Then there are the pics of them and their significant other, or them and their kids, or them having fun in a pool, or them eating a fantastic meal. What is the psychology of all that? Then there are the videos of women showing you how to put on makeup or doing a certain braid... are we down to the dumbest of the dumb? This is one of the many, many reasons I'm not on FB anymore.

selfies are schmucks engaged in self absorption. I do enjoy photos of stuff we are doing or eating or surrounded by. Thats ok. Selfies, no interest except of my beautiful wife and successful kid.

I’ve never understood the whole selfie thing. Some people will post one once a day. One thing I did notice during the pandemic was how some people changed. Some either gained weight or lost weight. One friend of mine was a little heavy and walked every day and lost 40lbs, another friend sat at home and gained almost 60lbs!
