What's your favorite hot sauce?

Is it the hotter the better? Or do you prefer flavor over heat?

@tsarstepan,
I'd be dumb enough to try it. But I wouldn't scoop it on as heavily. The hotter the sauce, the less you need.

@tsarstepan,
I stick with tabasco because I like the smell it gives off on a grilled steak. I tried a few other hot sauces and it didn't do the same.

@seac,
I also favor tabasco. For the taste; not the heat.

I prefer flavour over heat but my husband's the opposite. He likes Ghost Pepper sauces but this year he got one called Scorpion Smile

Ditto here. This is why Frank's RedHot Original Sauce is my favorite. I have to remember to ask my friend about the Mexican hot sauce we had (several months ago at a Mexican restaurant outside of the city) as that was a type I never had before and would like to keep a bottle at home. Not too particularly spicy but a real good flavor.

From Mexico... for everything from corn to chicharones (fried pork rinds).

I have seen this in Boston area grocery stores.

Outside of Frank's Redhot?

I've been happily been recently hooked on Tapatío hot sauce and Trader Joe's Green Dragon Hot Sauce.

And I haven't had Tabasco in quite a long time.

I've never bought hot sauce in my life. I doubt I will start now.

I'm a big fan of spicy food! Honestly, for me, it's all about the balance between heat and flavor. I love a good Habanero-based sauce—it has that perfect kick but you can still taste the actual food. What about you guys, do you have a go-to brand?

I totally get that! Habanero really is the perfect balance—enough kick to make it exciting, but you can still taste the actual food. What’s your favorite brand for that specific balance? Always looking for new suggestions!

@Region Philbis,
I can't really call this a hot sauce, but I really Like Lea & Perriens Worcestershire Sauce, it's tart and flavorful, maybe a little salty (maybe) but I love it. I don't like heavy jalapeno but just because of the smell. It's normally not that hot it just really smells poorly to me.

@glitterbag,
I used to like hotter and spicier but tasty. When I grew up, my father loved his spicy condiments and horseradish (he even ground his own). He would bribe or reward us if we could eat these hot peppers in the salad. So as youngster, I developed tolerance for hotter foods, but not blazing hot. You paid to dearly in the end!

Fast forward decades later, I now enjoy mild spicy, but tasty. My significant other cat tolerate ANY spiciness, whatsoever. When we eat in a restaurant, I have to go oversee the food choices so that a proper choice could be made on her behalf.
