Officially the three oldest distilleries are Glenturret (1775), Bowmore (1779) and Strathisla (1786) ... in Scotland.

Here’s another weird fact In 2000 the BBC conducted a poll for the best songs of the Millennium. At number 7, just behind ‘Yesterday’ by Paul McCartney was John Otway with, ‘Beware of the Flowers ‘Cause I’m sure they’re going to get you, Yeah.’

It’s on YouTube, there are even clips of him telling the above to the crowd before he plays it.

He makes a big deal that his song is almost as good as Yesterday.

Love John Otway, really smashing bloke. I’ve seen him in concert a few times, and he’ll always have a beer and a chat in the bar before and after.
